This web site is designed to provide you information about Motivational Interviewing Training and Online Therapy.

Motivational Interviewing is "a client-centered, directive method of communication for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence".

As of 3/1/08, I am no longer accepting online clients. I am keeping this part of my web site intact for those who are interested in the history of online therapy. I remain convinced that psychotherapy can be done ethically online - that for some people it is the only way that they will be able to get the help they need and deserve. There are many very good practicing therapists on the Internet at this time. Here are several and these will open up new pages:

The International Society of Mental Health Online (ISMHO) www.ismho.org This organization is the first international organization dealing with mental health services over the Internet.

If you are interested in exploring the possibility of online therapy, please click on the buttons on the left side of this page, starting with the Disclaimers button. In the Disclaimers section, I talk about some important issues you need to understand prior to beginning a course of online therapy. If you have any questions about any of these issues, please email me prior to starting the therapy process. My practice is limited to working with adults who come from dysfunctional homes. To be able to access therapy online, you will need to not be currently suicidal and have at least some stabilizing forces in your life.

My qualifications to do this kind of work are described in the link connected to the Qualifications button. Links to the Social Work Boards are included for verification of my independent licensure. I am licensed as an Independent Social Worker in the state of Ohio (LISW-S) as well as a licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC). I am also Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in New York (LCSW). My practice is limited to residents of Ohio and New York.
